Children are those innocent souls who grow up the way they are moulded. Right education and right learning is very important for them because what they learn during the early stages of their lives, they carry it with them their entire lives.

Having a teaching experience of about 20 years, Mrs. Chhabra is an author of two separate series of textbooks in Hindi and occasionally holds storytelling sessions for kids.

Besides teaching, she loves to spend time with children in orphanages and shelter homes, narrating stories and reciting poems. Children love the way she gives them lessons of life moulded in poems she recites in her unique and beautiful way.

She beautifully captures small moments of life in the two books of the series of ताक धिना धिन each comprising of 8 poems along with an attached audio CD in which each poem is sung beautifully. The poems are based on everyday topics which children can identify with and relate to. The poems touch upon the innocence of children and
the way they see life. The book aims to paint the canvas of children’s life with colours of joy, happiness and fun. The language is simple and will be easily understood by children as young as 4 or 5 years of age. Surely, it is a perfect gift for a child.

The little ones can enjoy the melodious tracks with hummable tunes  captured in the CD. Keeping in mind the importance of learning with fun, the writer says, “Education should be imparted in a way that feels nothing but fun! In addition, the children inadvertently learn intonation patterns, concentration and vocabulary.”

The book is visually rich and has vibrant colours in order to capture the attention of children. The imaginative illustrations will take the children to another world and will get them humming to the poems.

The book has been really appreciated by those who have read it and is awaiting much more from the real admirers- the little children. “Real satisfaction comes when children enjoy it and hum along with the poems,” says the writer.

Special thanks to Mrs. Usha Chhabra for her comments.

Story Junction

It is a misconception that storytelling can only be for children. In her storytelling session at Oxford Bookstore, CP, Mrs. Usha Chhabra realized that this art can hook and hypnotize adults as well.

Heartbreak in Progress

Chitra's and Ritika's shared dream of story writing turned into reality with the release of their debut novel in May 2015. Set in Chandigarh, the novel is a perfect blend of mixed emotions of boundless love, spicy conversations and crazy friendship.
